ROLLERS/SPARKERS "HAMES" Rollers/Sparkers 'Hames'
Album Launch - Friday June 27th Murray's (formerly Fraziers),
35/36 O'Connell St. 8pm.
10 euro
On Friday June 27th Rollers/Sparkers launch
their new album. It’s called “Hames”.
It will be released on the Lazybird label in CD and iTunes
download formats. The launch gig will be in Murray’s of
O’Connell Street, a great little venue which is now home
to the legendary Boom Boom Room. We’d love it if you
came down, immersed yourselves in the gently undulating soundwash
and – hey, why not? – bought the CD.
The support act shouldn’t be missed: Dara O’Brien features
in a tabla and sitar duo that will question everything you’ve
ever held dear about the Occident. Furthermore, in between
the live excursions, an intricate web of silvery tunes will
be spun by Lazybird’s own Neil, a man
whose love of the drone is equalled only by his fear of the
solo, and Paul, whose thoughtful passion for
the sonic arts reflects a profound hatred of both classical
music and children.

CHEQUERBOARD RE-ISSUE December2007
Dublin guitarist, producer & graphic artist, Chequerboard (John
Lambert) re-releases his acclaimed EP ‘Dictaphone
Showreels’ on Lazybird on December
7th as a precursor to his much anticipated new album which
is set for release in early 2008.
These captivating, wistful and melodic guitar pieces have captivated
many listeners since its original release. Something of a diamond
in the rough, it has gradually, through word of mouth found
a dedicated, discerning and passionate audience. Listen to it here
LAKKER DEBUT ALBUM October 2007
It's a busy month for the 'Bird...
First off, we're proud to say that Lakker will be releasing
their debut album "Ruido" tomorrow, October 5th,
on our very own Lazybird label. It'll be available in all good
record shops and online from iTunes. (Catalogue number LAZYB12,
if you need such info.)
Lakker are Dara Smith and Eomac, who make everything from abstract
glitchiness to rampaging gabba using only a couple of laptops,
the occasional microphone and their considerable musical smarts.
Since they emerged from the late, great band (.undermine.),
the two have been mainstays on the Irish music scene, playing
at festivals like DEAF and Mor, and at clubs like the Remote
Viewing Workshop and Neuromantek.
Their music is a mash up of various different styles and influences
- anything from Miles Davis to Mike Paradinas. In the past
Lakker have played alongside Andrew Weatherall, Kid 606, Andrea
Parker, Exile, Chevron and Decal, among others.
The album launch party for "Ruido" will be held next
Tuesday, the 9th of October, in CrawDaddy, from 8pm, with support
from Decal. It's be 10 euro in, and you'll be able to get the
album on the night (for less than in the shops, even!)You can
listen to excerpts from the album here: http://www.myspace.com/lakker
And we've also got a couple of gigs in our usual time and place
of Sunday in Anseo this month as well...On the 21st, in association
with the excellent folks at Rusted Rail, we'll be presenting
Directorsound and Agitated Radio Pilot. http://www.rustedrail.com http://www.myspace.com/directorsound http://www.myspace.com/agitatedradiopilotThen
the following Sunday, the 28th, it'll be DEAF weekend, and we're
currently planning on doing something in conjunction with the Alphabet
Set, probably starting early and ending late. More info to follow... http://www.alphabetset.netAnd
don't forget that we're still doing Radio-Inactivity, our weekly
webcast at http://www.powerfm.org. It happens every Sunday from
6pm 'til 7:30pm. Tune in, turn up, drone on.Thanks,
~lazybird~
